Method of Bidirectional Green Wave Coordinated Control for Arterials under Asymmetric Release Mode

The existing coordinated control methods of green wave are complicated, difficult to operate and mainly applicable intersection groups with symmetrical arriving upstream flows. Based on engineering practice, a new method bidirectional progression coordination was presented by designing particular overlapping phases the basis NEMA dual-ring phasing configuration. Applying characteristics asymmetric release mode requirements control, overall optimization designs phase sequence combination offset were carried out, influences cruising speed residual queues at red light considered, then classical graphic optimized. investigation data intersections group Ziwu Road in Qujing City, conducted under both symmetric mode. results show that latter approach not only improved bandwidth band effectively, but also reduced average delay number stops main road.
